What does the loss of UGA running backs coach Thomas Brown mean for the only commitment at that position for this year’s class?

Elijah Holyfield told 247sports.com’s Kipp Adams he was “still solid” in his commitment to UGA, and that coach Kirby Smart asked for the chance to bring in a new guy to replace Brown, who will take a similar position as running backs coach at Miami for Mark Richt.

The 4-star running back rates as the nation’s No. 5 prospect at his position for the Class of 2016. The Woodward Academy senior is ranked as the No. 17 overall player in Georgia this year.

UGA has already lost another top-rated running back in this year’s class in Devwah Whaley of Texas. He was one of five recruits that de-committed since the coaching change. The loss of Brown also all but eliminates UGA for Whaley.

Brown had continued to recruit him after his de-commitment after Mark Richt was fired at UGA.
