UGA’s No. 1 target at running back is less than 24 hours away from announcing his commitment.

Will it be UGA, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee or South Carolina for 4-star running back Elijah Holyfield? Or, will the son of boxing great Evander Holyfield shock the recruiting world and choose a school outside of his top five like Ohio State, Michigan … or even Duke?

Holyfield is set to announce his commitment at Woodward Academy at noon on Friday.

Before he announces, the AJC traveled to Holyfield’s high school to ask his teammates for their predictions on where he will play college football.

We asked Holyfield’s teammates this question:

Which school do you think Elijah will commit to? And why? Here are the predictions:

Max Richardson, LB: “I think he will choose UGA because of the way he has talked about the school, his visits up there and the way he communicates with the other commits.”

Jeffrey Hubbard, WR: “I think he’s going to go to Georgia. I feel like Georgia puts out a lot of backs and I think that’s a really big deciding factor on his part. I think he would be most successful at Georgia.”

Terry Myrick, FB: “I’m pretty sure it’s between Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State. I see him wear a lot of Alabama gear, and the gear gives it away a lot. He favors that Alabama gear a lot more than the other schools.”

Hunter Falconer, WR: “I think he would either go to Georgia or Michigan. I think Georgia because our uniforms are just like theirs, so I think he likes that. I think Michigan because of their Adidas deal. All he wears is Adidas. So, I think he would actually go to Michigan.”

Jacob Robertson, WR: “I think he’ll either go to Georgia or Auburn. I think he likes Georgia. He has been in contact with the coaches and I think he would be a good fit there. At Auburn, he would get some playing time when he first gets on campus and from what I hear, they don’t have a lot of running backs coming back.”

KJ Phillips, LB: “I think it’s between two schools: Auburn and UGA. I think Georgia, though, because he wants to stay close to home and play for the in-state school. He has always been a Georgia kid and play for the city. I think he wants to stay in the red and black.”

Ryan Glover, QB: “I think he is doing a great job at keeping it a secret. No one knows which school he is going to choose, but I have to say, he does wear Alabama gear the most, so I’m going to guess and say that he is going to Alabama. They also breed running backs.”

J.R. Pace, WR: “From what I’ve heard, it appears like he will either go to Georgia, Alabama or Auburn, but I think he’s going to flip the switch and go to Ohio State. Ohio State really wants him and that’s where I think he’s going to go. They have been recruiting him since the beginning and he originally liked them. I think it’s going to be a big surprise.”

Antone Williams, CB/WR: “I think he’s going to come out with something crazy and go to Duke. I’m going to go ahead and put it out there that he’s going to Duke because I want to be right if that happens. When we went up there, he definitely could see himself there. All of Duke’s running backs play like him, so I can definitely see him there. It would be a good fit and I know he knows about football and academics at the same time and he knows he can go to the league if he goes to Duke.”

NOW IT’S YOUR TURN: Which college will Elijah pick? Please post your prediction below.
