UGA game notes throw some shade at South Carolina
ATHENS ― The game notes issued by the Georgia sports information department before each game are usually very pedestrian and even-handed. Not this week.
Here is the second paragraph in the game notes:
Georgia leads the SEC East and faces a confident Gamecock squad that has their first three-game SEC winning streak since 2013, although those teams it beat are a combined 1-14 in league contests. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have won their five conference games by an average of 32 points.
That is all true: The Gamecocks did beat three teams (Arkansas, Tennessee and Vanderbilt) who are struggling and have combined for that record.
But it’s not customary for UGA’s sports information department to point things like that out, or anything negative at all about either team.
No. 2 Georgia (8-0) is favored by 24 points over South Carolina (6-2) when they meet Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET, CBS).
