Former Georgia DB Brandon Boykin signs with Chicago Bears

Former Georgia CB Brandon Boykin signed a free agent contract with Chicago, the Bears announced on Wednesday.

Boykin had a standout career at Georgia, winning the Paul Hornung Award as the most versatile player in college football in 2011. The same year, Boykin earned All-SEC Second Team honors at cornerback. He still remains tied for the all-time SEC leader in kick return touchdowns.

Since being drafted in the fourth round in the 2012 NFL Draft by Philadelphia, Boykin has compiled 145 tackles, 45 passes defended, 5 forced fumbles and a pair of sacks. He stuck with the Eagles through 2014, and then caught on with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2015.

Boykin signed with the Carolina Panthers earlier this offseason, but was cut in May to create roster room. At this point, a day before the start of training camp, the Chicago Bears’ roster stands at 90.
